Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a typical session?

Most of my therapy sessions are 55 min in length.

Do you take insurance?

I’m an out of network provider with most insurance plans. I can provide a superbill (a receipt with the billing codes your insurance needs to reimburse part of the session cost). Many of my clients claim on their OON benefits in this way.

At this time I am in-network with Premera.

What is a free initial consultation?

Because therapy is such deeply personal work, it’s important you find a therapist you feel comfortable with. This is why I offer a complimentary phone or Zoom call where I’ll introduce myself and ask some questions that will help us determine whether I’m a good fit.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you give me at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel a session, or you may be responsible for the session fee.

Can I ask you personal questions?

Yes, ask me anything you’d like! So long as your session doesn’t become focused on me. I might not answer every question, but I will certainly let you know about the person you’re talking to. This is a relationship.

What are your pronouns?

My pronouns are she/her. I aim to create a safe space to talk about gender and sexuality.

Do you work with neurodivergent individuals?

Yes! Though I do not provide assessments for ND.

How long have you been in practice?

I’ve been in private practice for about 8 years. Before that, I worked in a community mental health setting, a psychiatric hospital, and family reconciliation services.

Have you been in therapy yourself?

Yes, I have! There’s nothing I provide for others that I haven’t first done for myself.

What is your educational background?

I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the LIOS (Leadership Institute of Seattle) College of Saybrook University. My background is in systems and humanistic psychology. Additionally, I’ve completed an EMDRIA-approved EMDR training and am working toward certification. I have received training in psychedelic-assisted therapy, as well as mindfulness and contemplative practices. My undergrad is in art (oil painting). I’ve completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and a multi-year spiritual practitioner training taught by Julie Kramer that placed a strong emphasis on ethics in spiritual practice. I consider myself a lifelong learner, learning through life itself and always working to become aware of my own implicit biases and to keep an open heart.

Are you licensed?

Yes, I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. My license number is LH60609831.

If I tell you I have suicidal thoughts, will I be committed?

No, you will not be involuntarily detained for having suicidal thoughts. It’s important that you have a safe space to talk about them so that we can work through the depth of your pain. If I have reasonable cause to believe that you’ll act upon your thoughts, then I’m required to make a report to ensure your safety.
